Automotive Cybersecurity Engineer
Summary: We are looking for an experienced Automotive Cybersecurity Engineer for a contract role in the Preston Area, working in a hybrid arrangement. The successful candidate will be involved in cybersecurity engineering activities for complex vehicle platforms, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. This role requires strong experience in automotive or embedded systems cybersecurity engineering. The contract is initially for 12 months, with a rate of up to £475 per day, classified as outside IR35. Key responsibilities include conducting threat analysis, defining cybersecurity requirements, and collaborating with multi-disciplinary engineering teams.

We are seeking an experienced Automotive Cybersecurity Engineer to support a major Embedded systems programme within a highly regulated engineering environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in cybersecurity engineering activities across complex vehicle platforms, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct Threat Analysis and Risk Assessments (TARA) for Embedded systems and electronic control units.
- Define and document cybersecurity requirements and technical specifications.
- Produce high-quality engineering documentation to support compliance and assurance activities.
- Define cryptographic service requirements for Embedded platforms.
- Support cybersecurity activities throughout the product development life cycle.
- Collaborate with engineering, software and systems teams across multiple locations.
- Contribute to programme delivery, ensuring milestones are achieved within agreed timescales.
- Support technical reviews, audits and cybersecurity governance activities.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong experience within automotive or Embedded systems cybersecurity engineering.
- Working knowledge of automotive cybersecurity standards and regulatory frameworks.
- Experience performing Threat Analysis and Risk Assessments (TARA).
- Strong understanding of Embedded system architectures and vehicle communication networks.
- Experience defining cybersecurity requirements and security controls.
- Ability to produce detailed technical specifications and engineering documentation.
- Experience working across multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
Desirable
- Experience within safety-critical or regulated industries.
- Familiarity with cryptographic services and secure communications.
- Experience supporting cybersecurity compliance and audit activities.
- Knowledge of requirements management and technical documentation platforms.
- Exposure to connected, autonomous or intelligent Embedded systems.
