Business Analyst - Reporting & Analytics | Global Law Firm | London or Chelmsford
Inside IR35 | Contract | Hybrid
A leading international law firm is building out its firm-wide reporting and analytics capability - and they need an experienced Business Analyst to help shape it.
This is a high-profile programme role sitting within the Change Management Office, partnering directly with BI developers, data engineers, and senior stakeholders to deliver a modern, data-driven reporting ecosystem across the business. If you have a background in analytics transformation programmes and understand how data flows from warehouse to dashboard, this is worth reading.
Please note: this engagement has been assessed inside IR35. Candidates should ensure they are set up to work via an umbrella company prior to application.
The Role
You'll be the analytical backbone of a multi-workstream Reporting & Analytics programme - capturing and translating complex business requirements into actionable deliverables for technical teams. That means leading discovery sessions, defining KPIs and calculation logic, producing data mapping specs, and validating that reports and dashboards actually do what the business needs them to do.
Day-to-day you'll be working with Power BI developers and data engineers on Snowflake-based solutions, so a solid understanding of data warehousing principles and BI delivery is essential. You'll also be supporting UAT, backlog refinement, and helping the firm transition away from Legacy reporting - so this is as much about programme delivery as it is pure analysis.
What They're Looking For
- 5+ years' BA experience in data, reporting, or analytics environments
- Snowflake knowledge - you don't need to write SQL all day, but you need to understand dimensional modelling and speak credibly with data engineers
- Legal or professional services experience - this is a partnership-structured law firm with specific domain complexity, and candidates who've operated in that environment will hit the ground running
- Proven ability to elicit and document requirements at pace across multiple business functions
- Solid Agile delivery experience within large, complex programmes
- Strong senior stakeholder management - you'll be presenting to and challenging senior leadership
Desirable: knowledge of legal systems such as Elite 3E, Intapp, or Sharedo; SQL skills; experience in data governance or master data initiatives; BA certifications (CBAP, PMI-PBA, or similar).
