Summary: This role is for an Estimator in the manufacturing sector, based in Cardiff, offering a starting salary of £30,000 per annum along with various benefits. The position involves reviewing enquiries, ensuring accurate quotations, managing amendments, and maintaining customer communication. The ideal candidate will have experience in continuous improvement and a background in engineering or manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review enquiries to ensure the ability to supply compliant quotations within the company’s product range.
- Ensure all quotations are 100% accurate, including relevant margins, and comply with certification requirements.
- Manage quote amendments pre- and post-sale to meet customer and project needs.
- Raise DFAs (Design for Approval) when required, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Communicate regularly with external customers to ensure comprehensive and compliant quotations.
- Maintain regular customer contact regarding key quotations to address inquiries and updates.
- Answer general technical enquiries, including specifications, certifications, and building regulations, consulting the technical team when necessary.
- Follow all standard operating procedures and processes to ensure consistency and quality.
- Continuously look for ways to improve the quoting process and contribute to operational efficiencies.
- Ensure KPIs related to estimation and customer engagement are met consistently.
Key Skills:
- Experience in a Continuous Improvement / Production Engineer / Manufacturing Engineer / Process Engineer role.
- Educated to HNC level (or equivalent) in an Engineering discipline would be beneficial.
- Lean Management.
- Must be fully proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software.
- Experience of 2D and/or 3D CAD would be beneficial.
- A proven track record of implementing improvements in processes and operational effectiveness.
- Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment with a good understanding of manufacturing processes.
