Interim Head of Engineering (Data & Software)
Summary: An opportunity exists for an experienced senior engineering leader to take on the role of Interim Head of Engineering (Data & Software) in the Midlands. This position involves overseeing delivery across data and software teams within a complex environment, focusing on leadership, driving standards, and improving delivery. The role is initially a 3-month contract with the potential to develop into a longer-term position. The successful candidate will lead approximately 30 engineers across multiple squads, ensuring alignment of engineering output with business objectives while supporting and challenging team leads and managers. Required skills include proven senior leadership experience in data-led environments and the ability to manage large, distributed teams.

Responsibilities:
- Lead c.30 engineers across multiple squads
- Drive delivery, standards and best practice
- Provide leadership across distributed teams
- Align engineering output with business objectives
- Support and challenge team leads and managers
Required skillset:
- Proven Head of Data or Engineering / senior leadership experience
- Strong background in data-led environments
- Experience managing large, distributed teams
- Ability to drive engineering standards and challenge effectively
- Exposure to .Net environments (nice to have)
- Knowledge of SQL-based systems, Databricks and Azure
- Experience delivering in cloud environments (Azure)
