Key Responsibilities:

  • Manufacture custom primers/oligonucleotides following established protocols and standard operating procedures.

  • Perform in-process testing to ensure batches meet specifications.
  • Complete documentation thoroughly, including batch records and deviation reports.

Key Skills:

  • BSc, HNC, HND in biology, chemistry, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year laboratory or manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Understanding of basic scientific principles and lab techniques.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Familiarity with COSHH and Risk Assessments.

Description Working Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday - 3 weeks of night shifts followed by 12 weeks of day shifts, rotating between one week morning, one week afternoon shift, and then back to 3 weeks of night shifts.

Position Objective Work in a team-based environment to manufacture high-quality custom oligonucleotides in a high-throughput, fast-paced setting. As a formulation technician, you will learn the basics of oligonucleotide synthesis, processing, and purification. This outstanding role allows insight into mainstream oligonucleotide production and requires the ability to exercise judgment within generally defined practices, policies, and procedures.

Essential Functions

  • Manufacture custom primers/oligonucleotides for use in the biotechnology industry by following established protocols and standard operating procedures
  • Operate semi-automated and automated equipment to ensure orders are fulfilled on time
  • Apply scientific principles to problem-solve, troubleshoot test results, evaluate alternative choices, and exercise good judgment in selecting the best solution
  • Perform in-process testing to assure batches meet specifications
  • Evaluate non-routine test results and determine product disposition
  • Balance multiple tasks and prioritize critical activities
  • Ensure compliance with ISO13485 standard
  • Complete documentation thoroughly and accurately, including batch records and deviation reports
  • Update various Production/QC reports and spreadsheets
  • Support cost improvement initiatives by reducing failures, improving capacity, and using supplies wisely
  • Carry out tasks safely, following all EHS initiatives including wearing full PPE
  • Identify, fix, or escalate any hazards within the department
  • Demonstrate good work ethic, time management, and social skills
  • Support the department's annual goals and objectives to ensure custom orders are delivered correctly and on time

Requirements Education: BSc, HNC, HND in biology, chemistry, or equivalent Outstanding internal or external candidates without degree qualifications will be considered

Experience Minimum 1 year laboratory or manufacturing experience preferred Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Willingness to cross-train in multiple areas within the manufacturing environment
