Role: Mechanical Engineer – Test Facilities

Location: Peterborough

Duration: 6-month contract (highly likely to extend)

Rate : £38.50/hour Umbrella (Inside IR35) or £28.50/hour PAYE

Hours: Monday - Thursday: 8:30am to 4:45pm. Friday: 8:30am to 4:15pm

Global Automotive company looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join their Test & Development team supporting product development, validation and testing programmes.

Working across a large-scale engineering facility, you will play a key role in maintaining and improving test infrastructure, delivering engineering projects, and solving complex mechanical challenges. This is a hands-on role offering exposure to mechanical systems, cooling systems, bespoke test rigs and future facility upgrades. You will work closely with engineers, technicians and third-party suppliers to ensure testing operations continue safely and efficiently.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience within a test facility, development, validation or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong fault-finding and mechanical problem-solving capability.
  • Experience delivering small to medium-sized engineering projects.
  • Design and development of mechanical systems, test rigs and supporting infrastructure.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Engineering Degree preferred, although significant relevant industry experience will also be considered.
