Post Title: Oxfordshire Community Pharmacy Liaison

Hours: 0.6 WTE (approx. 22 hours per week), flexible working hours

Contract: 18-month fixed-term pilot (extension subject to funding and outcomes)

Salary: Commensurate with experience (approx. £30,000–£36,000 FTE)

Base: Hybrid – home and field-based across Oxfordshire (travel to community pharmacies required)

Accountable to: Chief Executive Officer, Community Pharmacy Thames Valley (CPTV)

Responsible to: Thames Valley Local Pharmaceutical Committee (LPC)

Purpose of the Role

To strengthen the relationship between Oxfordshire community pharmacies, Public Health Oxfordshire, and partner organisations by improving engagement, communication, and delivery of locally commissioned Public Health services such as Supervised Consumption (PSC), Needle Exchange (SWOP), and Take Home Naloxone (THN). The postholder will act as a liaison and engagement officer , not a clinical role, supporting the practical delivery, communication, and improvement of pharmacy-based public health services.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Pharmacy Engagement and Support
  • Visit community pharmacies across Oxfordshire to promote and support Public Health services.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with pharmacy teams, acting as a supportive link between pharmacies, the Council and service partners.
  • Identify barriers to service delivery and work collaboratively to find solutions.
  • Encourage and support pharmacies to sign up for and actively deliver PH services.
  1. Service Improvement and Monitoring
  • Assist pharmacies in understanding service specifications, contract requirements, and data reporting.
  • Conduct service evaluations, surveys, and engagement reviews to inform improvement plans.
  • Collate activity data and produce summary reports highlighting trends and areas for focus.
  • Contribute to evaluation work supporting future procurement (e.g., 2026/27 PH pharmacy contract).
  1. Communication and Relationship Management
  • Serve as the day-to-day liaison between Public Health Oxfordshire and community pharmacies.
  • Coordinate communication materials, newsletters, and updates for contractors.
  • Facilitate and record feedback from pharmacies to inform Public Health strategy.
  • Represent CPTV and Oxfordshire LPC at relevant local stakeholder meetings as required.
  1. Training and Development Support
  • Promote access to relevant training and learning resources for pharmacy teams.
  • Coordinate logistics for local or virtual training events, such as the Naloxone awareness sessions.
  • Support the development of training materials or resources where needed.
  1. Administrative and Reporting Duties
  • Maintain accurate records of visits, engagement, and outcomes.
  • Prepare progress updates for LPC and Public Health Oxfordshire as agreed.
  • Support communications and publicity around successful engagement or improvement initiatives.

Other Requirements

  • Valid UK driving licence and ability to travel across the county.
  • Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to support training or events.
