Summary: An experienced Network Engineer is sought to support and enhance a critical IP network environment, focusing on business-as-usual operations, incident resolution, and ongoing improvements. The role is fully remote and emphasizes collaboration with various teams to ensure effective service delivery. The position is outside IR35 and offers a competitive daily rate. The contract duration is 12 months.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide operational support for enterprise IP networks, including LAN and WAN environments.
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot routing and switching technologies (BGP, OSPF, VLANs, STP, MPLS).
- Perform deep-dive fault analysis to resolve complex network incidents and performance issues.
- Support planned network changes, upgrades, and optimisations in line with change management processes.
- Monitor network performance and capacity, identifying risks and improvement opportunities.
- Work closely with other infrastructure, cloud, and security teams to support end-to-end service delivery.
- Maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams, and configuration records.
- Engage with vendors and service providers as required to resolve issues.
Key Skills:
- Strong understanding of IP networking and TCP/IP fundamentals.
- Hands-on experience operating production networks using BGP and OSPF.
- Solid routing and switching experience in enterprise or service-provider environments.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot Layer 2-4 network issues.
