Summary: This role is for a Senior Buyer specializing in commodities, responsible for end-to-end procurement processes and strategic sourcing activities. The position requires collaboration with various internal functions and external suppliers to ensure alignment with business objectives. The role is based in Gaydon with a hybrid working arrangement, requiring two days on-site each week. The successful candidate will report to the Procurement Manager and manage supplier relationships globally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and deliver Strategic Commodity Dossiers and Commodity Business Plans
- Lead global sourcing activities through the Global Sourcing Process to contract award
- Develop and run commodity strategies aligned to business, market, and supplier insights
- Lead supplier negotiations, contracting, and supplier performance management
- Drive cost target achievement pre- and post-contract award using TCO/TVO principles
- Manage supplier relationships globally, including Supplier Business Reviews
- Partner cross-functionally with engineering, finance, manufacturing, and programme teams
- Oversee capacity planning, supply chain risk management, and compliance activities
- Ensure effective handover to regional teams following sourcing decisions
Key Skills:
- Degree qualified or equivalent experience in procurement or a related field
- Proven ability to create and deliver robust, long-term procurement strategies
- Strong commercial acumen with experience in cost management and negotiation
