Pay rate: £483 per day all inc. (PAYE through FCSA Umbrella)

Role Description:

Client is looking for an experienced.*AWS Solution Architect* to drive the design and implementation of cloud-based solutions that support the bank's digital transformation agenda, with a strong focus on.*lending platforms and core banking systems*. The role involves working closely with engineering teams, business stakeholders, and security functions to build secure, scalable, and resilient systems on AWS.

*Key Responsibilities*

  • Design and deliver.*end-to-end AWS cloud architectures* aligned with Barclays' enterprise standards, regulatory requirements, and.*banking/lending domain needs* (eg, loan origination, credit risk, payments).
  • Lead.*cloud transformation initiatives* across core banking and lending platforms, including application migration, modernization, and cloud-native development.
  • Define and implement best practices for.*architecture, security, scalability, and cost optimization* across AWS environments supporting financial workloads.
  • Collaborate with development, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to ensure.*seamless integration and CI/CD pipelines* for banking applications.
  • Ensure compliance with.*financial services regulations* (eg, FCA, PRA, GDPR) and internal governance policies across all cloud solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams and act as a key point of contact for.*cloud architecture decisions in lending and banking systems*.
  • Conduct.*architecture reviews, risk assessments, and performance tuning*, particularly for high-volume transactional systems such as loan processing and payment systems.
  • Engage with stakeholders, including product owners in.*lending, credit, and core banking*, to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.

.*Required Skills & Experience*

  • Strong hands-on experience with.*AWS services* such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, IAM, API Gateway, and CloudFormation.
  • Proven expertise in.*solution architecture design* for large-scale distributed systems in.*banking or financial services environments*.
  • Solid understanding of.*lending systems*, including loan origination, servicing, underwriting, and credit risk platforms.
  • Experience with DevOps practices and tools including.*CI/CD pipelines, Terraform/CloudFormation, Docker, and Kubernetes*.
  • Deep understanding of.*cloud security, networking, and financial compliance frameworks* (eg, GDPR, ISO 27001, PCI-DSS).
  • Demonstrated experience in.*cloud migration strategies* (lift-and-shift, refactoring, re-architecting), particularly for.*core banking or lending applications*.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills with the ability to work across.*cross-functional banking stakeholders*.

.*Preferred Qualifications*

  • AWS certifications (eg,.*AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional*).
  • Experience working on.*lending, mortgages, retail banking, or credit platforms*.
  • Familiarity with.*microservices architecture and event-driven systems* in financial ecosystems.
  • Knowledge of.*data platforms, risk analytics, and AI/ML use cases* in lending (eg, credit scoring, fraud detection).
