Summary: The Technical Buyer role is a 3-month fixed-term contract based in Telford, focused on enhancing purchasing capacity within a busy engineering and manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities:
- Manage purchasing requirements across engineering and production
- Identify and onboard suitable suppliers based on technical drawings
- Issue RFQs and negotiate pricing, lead times, and commercial terms
- Raise and manage purchase orders within ERP/MRP systems
- Expedite deliveries to ensure on-time, in-full supply
- Flag risks, shortages, or delays that could impact production
- Support stock control, shipping, export paperwork, and general purchasing
- Work in line with QHSE policies and procedures
Key Skills:
- Proven experience within a purchasing/buyer/expediter role
- Comfortable working in an engineering or manufacturing environment
- Strong commercial awareness and confident negotiation skills
- Able to read engineering drawings and select appropriate suppliers
- Proactive, organised, and able to prioritise a demanding workload
- Confident using ERP/MRP systems and MS Office
