Publisher UX London is seeking a passionate, well-rounded UX Designer to cover a parental leave within our team. This designer should thrive on solving complex design challenges, seamlessly scaling their thinking from detailed features to holistic product experiences, with a primary focus on desktop applications and additional experience in mobile design. In this role, you will lead design-oriented initiatives from concept through to specification and launch. You will partner closely with UX researchers and Product Managers to influence roadmap decisions through a user-centric lens, while collaborating with a talented engineering team to ensure successful launches. This is a fast-paced, high-visibility environment that requires focused, detailed, and efficient UX work. The core focus of this position is concepting and delivering experiences that support publishers and champion a free and open internet! We are looking for a self-motivated design practitioner who enjoys collaborating to solve tough user and technical problems. An astute eye for detail, the ability to move quickly, and a passion for design craft are essential. Ideally, you will have experience working with AI as your work will directly impact the future of publisher tools.

Job responsibilities:

  • Define product requirements and solutions partnering with PM and ENG
  • Focus on user needs, identify mental models, and define the user experience for the publisher ecosystem, and components within the vast offering of features in AdSense.
  • Develop user journeys, mockups, prototypes and end-to-end specs to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas and clearly explain the rationale for design decisions to cross-functional peers.
  • Partner closely with User Researchers to learn about our users and test and validate design concepts.
  • Work with engineering to ensure designs are implemented to spec and collaborate together to come up with creative design solutions when technical challenges arise.

Required Qualifications:

  • MA/MS degree in Design (e.g. interaction, product, industrial, etc.), or equivalent practical experience.
  • Deep knowledge of Figma, creating high fidelity mocks and prototypes
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to articulate a clear rationale for design choices.
  • Experience in designing complex desktop or web applications, solving tough interaction challenges, from pre- to post-launch.
  • Track record of designing and launching high quality and usable products.
  • Familiarity with user research methods or working closely with researchers
  • Experience in defining and expanding design systems, components and patterns.
  • Systems Thinking: You are able to grasp a large set of dependencies and constraints in the product and upcoming roadmap in order to scale thoughtful experiences while maintaining clarity, consistency, and delight.
  • Include a portfolio or any other relevant link to your work in your resume (providing a viewable link or access instructions).

Nice to have:

  • Experience in AI: You have good knowledge of and experience designing UX solutions built on AI technology. You are eager to generate novel ideas that keep up with the latest innovations and trends and keep updated on the overall competitive landscape.
  • Business Acumen & Product Management Experience: You have a proven track record of translating complex business requirements and high-level strategies into seamless, user-centric experiences. You are adept at partnering with Product Managers to influence roadmaps and ensure design solutions align with broader business goals.
  • Expressive Design: Your portfolio showcases an intentional introduction of delight and expression in otherwise functional designs. You understand when to lean into unexpected flourish vs when to use restraint so that delight has a rightful time and place.
